Everything being connected, physically and otherwise, art is a way to create links and question separations, a series of actions or patterns which tends towards something whole, connected and unified. I follow a dialectical process that explores common ground and shared experience. From the recognition of colour and shape, to emotional understanding, to explaining or accepting the great unknown. Art is a system of belief and a system of measurement combined, a synthesis of deep memory and surface reality. A universal expression of ideas and feelings that is a means to describe and understand our origins and contemporary life.

I use readily available or repurposed materials like paper, paint, canvas and wood. The work often alludes to history, science and religion and the role of art has in technology and society.
(I also subscribe to an art that is generous of spirit and geared towards positive social change. For this reason I volunteer as an art guide with Focus Ireland and HEAL Palestine, conducting museum and gallery visits alongside art making sessions in studios and appropriated spaces. I make currachs, an Irish traditional rowing boat, which gives the gift of the sea to all who wish to explore it.)
